HISTORY

Tipperary Raceway is Ireland's only purpose built oval motor racing racing circuit. Located in the heart of the "Golden Vale" of South Tipperary, Ireland, it has been said that you are only a stranger here but once.

Founded in the early 1980's, the track is an international standard motor racing circuit affiliated to the Oval Racing Council International and the National Hot Rod Promoters Association (NHRPA). Although best known as the Irish home of Hot Rod Racing , the present promoters are keen to develop the raceway as a motorsport centre and already run a very sucessful outdoor karting venue every afternoon and evening where karts can be hired by individuals or groups. Allied to this the venue regularly plays host to rallycross and rallysprint events as well as the crowd pleasing banger and demolition derby meetings.

Full programme Hot Rod racing meetings are held throughout the year mostly on Sunday afternoons and details of these fixtures are posted regularly on this website. The National Hot Rod drivers compete throughout the year for the honour of qualifying to represent Ireland in the NHR World Championship each July.

The quarter mile asphalt oval , surrounded by banked viewing terraces and covered all weather stands is located at Rosegreen, between Cashel and Clonmel in Co. Tipperary, just off the main Cork / Dublin Road.
