A Brief historical summary
of the Branch
The Branch was founded in
the spring of 1970 in Moran's Hotel at the junction of
Talbot Street and Gardiner Street, Dublin, having been in operation as
"An Beinsín Luachra" Traditional Irish Music Club,
during the previous six months.

It was decided to name the Branch "Craobh
Seán Treacy" in honour of the Irish patriot,
a native of Solohead, Co.Tipperary, who was killed on the 14th of October
1920 outside
Speidel's shop, 94 Talbot Street, a short distance from where the Branch was
founded.
Members of Craobh
Seán Treacy C.C.E., past and present, have made a significant
contribution to the Traditional Irish music scene over the last 30 years,
many establishing international reputations...
