School Leagues
- Basketball and Soccer leagues are organised among the pupils in the school. Both boys and girls of all classes have an opportunity to compete, and trophies are awarded to the winners.
Football
- The school has a junior and senior team in both ladies and gents football. These teams travel to compete in both home and away games and 1997 proved to be a very successful year as both the senior and junior boys won county competitions.
Sports Day
- A sports day was organised at the school this year. All students and staff participated in the many different competitions. A great day was had by all.
Fundraising
- The students of Holy Cross take part in various fundraising events each year. Each year students sell daffodils for "Daffodil Day" and in 1997 money was raised to contribute to the £2,000 raised by Kenmare.
- Students also participated in "Daisy Day" and "Jump for Joy" - a sponsored basketball event for Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children. We raised money for vital research projects and life saving equipment.
- This year both students and teachers participated in a sponsored walk of twelve miles. We raised in total IR£2,000.00 We presented local charities with half raised and the remainder was presented to the Missions.
- Fifth Year students raised £855.00 for Concern this year for their Christmas Appeal. This money was raised by doing a sponsored fast.
Business Enterprise
- Fifth year students participate in a business enterprise. This year the students set-up and managed a school canteen. All profits were divided between the shareholders and proved very beneficial.
School Tours
- Each year students from first and second year go on a class outing. These outings vary from year to year. Fifth year students travel abroad which usually lasts for up to one week. In 1995 students went to Holland , in 1996 students went to France and England and this year students hope to travel to Russia.
Other Activities
- Musical groups representing our school have participated and have been successful in winning many competitions in Scor na Nog, Readori and Slogadh.
- Students have the option of attending various productions of plays relevant to the course they are studying.
- Many students are members of local youth clubs, sports clubs and musical groups.
- The Fifth year students are responsible for our Annual Christmas Party for both staff and students. Students arrange entertainment, food and beverage and various competions for all.
- Some of our Fifth year students are also involved in Community Service. They visit local Nursing Homes regularily to talk and entertain the residents.
- Students designed a web site for the school as part of a competition organised by the
Institute of Technology, Tralee. We were awarded first prize for the most impressive site in this competition and received a colour printer for our school. An update of this page can now be viewed at Kenmare.com
