What Tubber Village Means to Me?

Tubber Village is my home it is where I go to school, where I play sports and where all my friends live. Tubber is a scenic village located on the edge of the Burren. The Irish word for Tubber is "Tobar" which means well. We are in the parish of Kilkeedy. Above is a map of Kilkeedy.

Tubber National School

Tubber National School was established in 1875 gradually things have changed down through the years. It is a very small two teacher school with two classrooms and currently under thirty children on roll. Many parents from the area recall the turf fire, the outdoor toilets and the big classes of children when they attended. In more recent times indoor toilets, central heating, computers and a special office have been added to the school. Another interesting piece of information is that we have register books in the school that date back to early 1900's and these register books are still in use today to register new children.

Tubber Church

Tubber Church is located across the road from our school. The church is maintained by the Parish Council. We have mass each weekday morning at 9.15 a.m. and on Saturday evening at 8.00 p.m. The senior classes serve in the church. Inside the church there are beautiful statues of Jesus and Mary. Our local Priest is Fr.Geoghegan.

The Village Pump

Beside the school is the old water pump which has been repainted recently in the Tubber colours of black and amber. A new wall has been built behind it with beautiful flowers in front of it.
