Palace of the Alhambra Granada

In 711 Moors (muslims from North Africa) invaded Spain driving the Christian rulers
into the mountains of the North.For 700 years the Moors ruled Spain. They introduced
Islam, but allowed Jews and Christians to worship freely. They were known for their
scholarship and fine buildings. The Alhambra is a wonderful Moorish palace

Temple of the Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

designed by the Architect Antonio Gaudi (1852-1926)

Gaudi developed a new curving almost surreal design style. Foundations for the Sagrada
Familia were laid when he was 30 years old. It was incomplete when he died at 74,
and is still being completed. He also designed El Parque Guell an example of
Art Nouveau landscape- architecture.

The Royal Palace-Madrid-18th Century

The Palace was built on the site of a former Alcazer (Moorish Fortress). It has 2,800 rooms.
You can visit 50 of the rooms. The building is used for State visits and other ceremonies.

Guggenheim-Bilbao

The ultra modern Guggenheim building is a spectacular exhibition space designed by an
American Architect Frank O'Gehry. It houses 19 galleries. It is built with
limestone, glass and titanium and houses art work and exhibitions.
