Flying Without Wings
One day I was cycling over to the shop with my friends, Liam and James. I was a sunny day and we were all wearing t-shirts and shorts. We went inside and everything was were they normally were. I took a bottle of 7-up and a Mr. freeze and went over to the counter and asked for a packet of Haribo and 2 big cola bottles.
"Three-sixty" said Sean the shopkeeper.
I paid the money and went outside.
I asked James and Liam what they bought.
"A packet of taytos, coke and chewing gum," said James.
"Orange, choc-ice and a packet of taytos," answered Liam.
I started eating one of my cola bottles. Suddenly I rose off the ground.
"Oh, guys help," I shouted to Liam and James.
They turned around and looked at me.
I could fly. I could really fly. I flapped my arms and rose into the air.
James and Liam rushed into the shop to get a cola bottle, but sadly for them there was none left. I flapped my arms and swooped down and up into the air. I jerked from side to side. I tried everything I could do. I soared around for a few minutes. My friends looked in silence. They couldn't believe my luck.
Around Ireland in a Flash
After a while I went down to the hurling pitch. My biggest brother Cathal was playing an u-21 match against Scariff. I looked at the score board. It said 3-10 to 1-16 to Tubber. Cathal was playing corner back. I noticed my other brother Fergal, his friends had lost their sliotar. I could see it in the tall grass. So I went down, picked it up and gave it to them. They looked in astonishment at me. I carried on and I decided to go to my house.
When I got there the house looked so different from up in the air. Fergal was cutting the lawn. Suddenly I noticed the bull had escaped. i flew down and slowly I put the bull in the field.
I liked history so I decided to go viset the round tower at Clonmacnoise. It was very old and the roof had fallen down. I peeped inside the windows. The bricks from the roof had fallen in. I looked in the other buildings in the monastry. The kitchen had bricks falling out and it had no roof like all the other buildings in the monastry. In history Vikings raided the monastry. I thought for a while about where to go next.
I soon decided to go to Croagh Patrick. I flew up and there must have been fifty people climbing. When I was at the top I could see at least the whole of Mayo and some bits of Galway. The view was fantastic. It was cool not having to climb up. Some people were already up and drinking water. I was thirsty so I drank some of the 7-up,I had bought at the shop and ate the Mr. freeze. The sun was still shining. I wondered where to go next. There were a lot of places I could go. I soon made my mind up, I would go to Egypt.
Enchanting Egypt
I took my atlas out and looked for Egypt. In order to reach Egypt I would have to travel south. When I was flying over the sea I could see a lot of fish and seagulls. I decided to take a break at the rock of Gibraltar. I asked a bird for directions. It said to keep flying south until you come to a country with pyramids. It took me a while to find it but eventually I did. First I went into the pyramids. There were a lot of pictures on the walls. There were also a lot of signs which said
Afterwards I decided to go to the Sphinx. It was much bigger than me. I decided to fly up on it's head. It was a long way down. Next I decided to go to the Valley of the Kings. I went inside and all the doors had the name "Tutankhamun" written on them. There was one room that was full of jewels, bracelets and necklaces. Suddenly I saw a tomb. I went over to it. I looked inside it. There was a body inside the tomb. There was a mask of gold on the body's head. It was a mummy. A mummy is a body preserved with oils and herbs.
A Roman Adventure
Next I decided to go to Rome. Rome is believed to be built on seven hills. First I decided to go to the Vatican. The Pope was speaking to the people but I didn't know what he was saying, because it was in Italian. After that I went to the Colliseum. It was a very old building. It was used for Gladiators to fight. Gladiators were trained warriors who fought each other for entertainment for the Roman people.
Long ago two brothers were born to King Numitor's daughter. But they were captured by soldiers and thrown into the river Tiber and the basket got caught on a branch. A wolf was living nearby and she brought them to her den to look after them. Later a shepard had seen them cuddled up to the wolf. He brought them back to his home and he and his wife looked after them. But one day a quarrel broke out between Remus and Numitors servant. Numitor who was no longer king sent for Romulus and Remus.
"Who are your parents", he asked them.
Romulus and Remus told their story. King Numitor told them that they were his grandsons.
Some years later Romulus and Remus had made a deal that whoever counted the most vultures could build a city. Romulus counted tweleve but Remus only counted six.
One day when Romulus' city was put up, Remus began to mock his brother. They fought and Remus was killed. Romulus called the city Rome, after himself, and thats how Rome got it's name.
The Homecoming
I decided then to go home and rest my powers for another day. There was a lot of noise from aeroplanes above me. I was getting tired. It was a long journey home. I t at least one hour. I was exhausted when I got home. I started watching telly. Later I would go outside and tell my friends about my incredible adventure.
