With the Blues on a good run of late this was the time to show the home fans what we are really made of and record our first home win of the season. It is a pleasure to report that every player gave his all in a comprehensive 2-0 win.

We started the game a lot better than Limerick who are now going through a bad spell, and it only took 6 minutes for that man Gary Dempsey to head home from five yards. a corner was sent across the box from the right and the Limerick keeper let the ball slip out of his hands to the awaiting Demspey who is now our leading scorer. For the next 10 minutes we ran the game completely and should have doubled our advantage on a few occasions. After this we got a little casual and let a poor Limerick team back into the game. Binders dominance in the penalty box and his distribution were excellent and this helped steady the Ship. David Whittle was playing his best game since his super displays last season and David Breen looked cool beside him. The loss of David Moore unbalanced us as Paul Leahy came off the bench as the Cork man got injured by a knee high tackle. We looked comfortable although a bit of movement up front would have seen us go 2 or 3 goals up. Bradley is a target man and dosent move off the ball and this leaves Woodie who wont move until the ball comes in his direction, the sooner Moroney is back to full fitness the better, and we also have Thomas Fitzgerald to fit in. PP must not fancy Joey Watson at all, he never starts him or gives him a desent run when he brings him on.

The second half saw Limerick try to play around the Blues but again we stood firm, with Frosty and Kevin playing well either side of the centre halfs. It took another Demspey goal for us to wrap up the points and how he showed composure in the box as he controlled the ball before driving it past a helpless keeper. This goal was needed as it gave us more confidence and Limerick were never going to score 2 goals, but they might have sneaked 1 late on. This performance gave the team their first home win and it was well deserved, as we defendered well and were solid throughout the pitch. the Cats are next up aon Sunday so another 3 points here and we are well on our way into a promotion chasing position.
