Considering we could well have been in te hunt for promotion this was a strange game to have arranged, just before what could have been 2 important league matches. This game was just a kick about and the Waterford players took it as such. Jimmy made 8 changes in the second half. We gave away a very sloppy first goal and it was well into the second half before Paul Scully scored with a good header, but a deflected shot off Leahysaw the ball rise over Binder's head and into the net. The Irish Junior team wore the new Irish Jersey for the World Cup in Japan/South Korea and what a lovely design it is.

This however was chance for Jimmy to see others in a match situation and when he started with Wood and Smith up front, we knew straight away that we needed Dempsey to score a goal. Brain Mallon who has just returned from injury did quite well on the right and it was nice to see Ian Barry on the pitch again. Otherwise this was a dull and boring affair, teh only plus factor for the Blues was appearance of Stoke City's scouts who are trying to form a partnership with Waterford United.
