After
last weeks victory over UL I was really looking forward to seeing the
young Blues take on Cobh in St. Colmans Park on Sunday afternoon. Too
say I left Cobh wondering why I made the trip would be an understatement,
as we produced very poor display. Every ball we received, was kicked long
and to make matters worse Cobh had a 6'4" defender who just headed
every ball clear.
This route
one football was in total contrast to what I witnessed last weekend when
the Blues played simple and effective football which created chances aplenty
and 5 goals. We have some very nice ball players in the team, but none
of them shone in a dull and drab encounter.

The
only goal in the game was taken well by the Cobh striker who was outstanding
throughout, but he was at least 5 yards offside as he slotted the
ball passed Binder who never covered the goal at the angle he approached
the forward. To be fair to Cobh they deserved to win the game, as
they dominated from early on as the young Blues never got to grips
with the game.
These matches have to be taken a lot more seriously by the players
and by the club who left Jason Bowman (team manager) travel on his
own to the game. Jason was a sub, carried the water, was the physio
and also drove down to Cobh. This is too much for a new young manager.
Maybe its Jason who should appoint an assistant to join him in his
backroom staff, but surely this cannot be left happen again. |
