Haakon Johansen

Haakon Johansen was a surprise visitor to the RSC on a cold December night in 2001 as he decided to come and see the progress Waterford United had made since in left in 1997. When a person says hello to you in the RSC and you know the face but can't put a name to him it's embarassing and then when he tells you it's Haakon you welcome him back to the home of world soccer. Haakon then heard about my site and sent me an e-mail to say hello and find out how the Blues are getting on. He now enjoys following the Blues along with millions of others on tubbritt.net.

Haakon Johansen was signed during the 1996/97 season by Tommy Lynch. Haakon is Norwegian and was a good centre forward who scored 3 goals in 6 games for the Blues as we finished third in the First Division of the Harp Lager National League. The Blues went on to lose the promotion/relegation play off game to Dundalk. Haakon along with Trond Debes a fellow country man enjoyed their stay in the Crystal city and still visit from time to time.

Haakon's career update

I left Waterford United at the end of season 1996/97 and played in the Norwegain second division for two seasons with IF Skarp and I had one season off due to injury. Had a surgery in sept 99 that kept me out of the game for 12 months (jumpers knee). One season with Porsanger FK (together with Adam Green) also in the Norwegain second division. Had one season with TB Tvøroyri on the Faroe Island as a player/manager that ended with promotion to the top division. At the time I just signed a one year contract with one of the top teams in third division back home IF Fløya, and I feel that this is going to be my season.
Off the pitch I fell in love with a girl when I came back from Waterford and we had a little daughter (Erica 2 1/2 year now). At present I'm single but still looking. Adam Green who was brought from Shrewsbury to Waterford at the same time I was, is one of my best friends now, and he is the godfather of my daughter.
