Training in Newtown College Sunday 3rd February 2002

Jimmy and Giles put squad through paces

With the Drogheda United match postponed on Sunday Jimmy and Giles decided to have a training session in Newtown College on the brilliant all weather surface.

34 players turned up the knock about with all new signings present. Andy Myler led the squad out on every occasion and looked a look fitter than his teammates. Kelvin Flanagan showed no effects to his recent injury, Tony Smith was very enthaustic and was always moving around pitch, Padraig Drew looked to have an excellent touch on the ball and could be just teh player we needed on the left. Two other faces amoug the squad were Noel Hunt and Alan Reynolds who was only sent off once in the 90 minutes.

The need for our own training facilities was obvious when after an hour of the session the players were moved to the gravel surface as a hockey match was due to tip off at 1.45 which was not realised before training started. A match is now badly needed for Jimmy to sort out his starting eleven. Don't be surprised if you get a fright when you see the team take to the pitch.
