Joe Murray
(1957-2004)

On Sunday 16th May 2004, Thomastown United lost one of it's best loved members. Joe Murray's untimely and sudden death shocked everybody who knew him. One of the best known and most popular members of the community, Joe always had a word for everybody. He was always willing to lend a hand, and in that respect, was a great club member.

Joe managed the successful Thomastown United sides of the 70's, was club medic for many years, and as anybody who ever stood near him at a game can confirm, a very vocal supporter!

 As a tribute, Joe's memory is honoured each Summer with the running of the Murray Cup. It was fitting that the first winners of the competition was the team captained by Joe's son, Joey.
