For the first phase of the Luas project forty Citadis trams have been ordered from Alstom in France: 26 standard trams of thirty metres are working the Red Line (lines A/C) and 14 extend trams of forty metres are working the Green Line (line B).
The standard trams have sixty seats. There is standing room for 175 passengers.

.

The height of the trams is 3.27 metres (the pantograph not included) and they have a maximum speed of 70 kilometres per hour.

The seats in the Luas trams have a wear proof fabric on which pictures of historic buildings in Dublin, such as the Custom House, the Four Courts, the Ha'penny Bridge and Christ Church Cathedral are printed.
