Bro Leo Slattery was born in Ballymackey Nenagh Co Tipperary. He joined the Patrician brothers in 1894, he taught Fethard, Galway , Mallow and taught for twelve years in Tullow . Bro Leo trained the young Tullow teams and in 1948 their effort was rewarded when they took the under 14 County title
It was Bro Leo who purchased the present playing field in 1931 so as the Club would have a permanent home. The playing field was the known as Tullow Gaelic Park , it was not until 1966 that
Extra ground was purchased and the park was then officially opened and called after Bro Leo.
Down through the years the Juvenile teams were managed and trained by Patrician Bothers who were to come to Tullow to teach , their contribution to the development of the club can not be under estimated Titles were won at frequent intervals.
Every decade since the schools Board was formed, Tullow has been at the top of the list in one competition or another. The 1970’s were very successful as were the 1990’s. The titles in 1970’s, u/14 football,1970,1976,1977, u/16 football 1971,1978,1979, u12football,1974,1975.
St Patricks Juvenile Hurling & Football Club won the Og Sport Competition in 1980 and represented their county in the finals in Gormanstown. In 1984 they were the first club from Carlow to compete in Peile Feile Na Og in Cavan and were successful in their division of the competition.1997 was another excellent year winning the u/14 county championship and again representing Carlow in Peile Feile na Og in Donegal.
Hurling has been very successful in the club during the last couple of years, winning titles at u/12 , u/14 and u/16 level .The club also won winter league titles in 1998 at u13 an u/15 level .The club caters for u/8’s to u/16 in both codes and is looking forward to the up coming season
The years 2002-
In the year 2002 Carlow hosted Féile Peile na nóg. This involved each club hosting a team from around the country and also six teams from abroad. Tullow hosted the Kimallock team from Limerick.
The weekend was a great success.Also that year both the under 16 Hurlers and Football teams reach their finals,but unfortunately neither team was to take the top prize.
In 2003 the under 12 footballers won the division 1D and also the under 14 hurlers reached their final in Division 2 but were beaten by Ballinkillen on the day.
In 2004 the under 12 again reached the final but this time had to be happy with the runners up title.They were beaten by Miseal.The under 14 also reached their final and after a hard battle were beaten, some concellation for the St Patricks Juvenile Hurling & Football Club was
that their number 12 Kellie Nolan got the trophy for player of the match
In 2005 the under 12 footballers and the hurlers again reached finals ,but alas none of them got to bring home the trophy
2006 saw the under 14 footballers take the Div 1b Title while the under 12 were runners up for another year
2007 saw the under 14 footballers take the Div 2b Title while the under 12 were runners up for another year . The under 10 footballers took part in the Morris Nolan Tournament and reached the final . The Club also took park in Felie na nGael u14 hurling competition and we hosted the London team for the weekend which was a great success
