SEA ANGLING 2000 (Downings)
This year also saw the passing of Ad Schrama (pictured right in blue) from Koudekerk Holland who was a regular angler in Downings.
During the Summer and Autumn season 18 specimen fish were caught in six varieties in the Sheephaven area one of which was a 103.5 lbs. Blue shark.
Shark fishing was poor with only 29 Blue shark being boated on the Mari Patria.
On the positive side, the bottom fishing was good with a large number of Specimen Gurnards in particular. On the fly fishing scene, 5 new line class World Records (caught on board the "Mari Partia") were ratified by the I.G.F.A .and of course the other big news of the year was the 344lb. Bluefin Tuna caught on board the m.v. Rosguill
