The choir rehearses in Dublin City Centre on Tuesday evenings 6.45pm - 08.45pm. Summer break is July - August. Rehearsal venue is Ely House, a prime example of Georgian architecture at its best. Built in 1771 by Henry Loftus, The Earl of Ely, this magnificent building which was a centre for 18th century social life in Dublin, has recently been restored to its former glory.

Admission to the choir is by audition. Basic sight reading ability is required. Those with previous choral experience are particularly welcome but the most essential requirements are musical ability, enthusiasm to learn and commitment to regular rehearsals.

Who we are - a brief history of the choir
Ulysses is a varied group of musically ambitious individuals who have a great love and passion for singing. It all started in 1992 when a group of us decided that we wanted to be part of something that was a little bit different from the norm.

Firstly, we wanted to be one of the best choirs in Ireland with ambitions to create a choir in which we would continuously challenge ourselves to improve. Our philosophy was and still is - that we try to combine a fresh, fun atmosphere with top quality singing, learning as we go, improving in terms of musicianship, technique and knowledge of the repertoire.

We have won many competitions down through the years. After a considerable break we returned to the scene at the Navan Choral Festival in May 2007 where we won First Prize in both the Mixed Voices and Sacred Music competitions. We?ve taken a break again in 2008, but it was nice to know that we can still compete with the very best of Irish choirs and do so well.

Many of the founder members are still with us but we have had a healthy turnover down through the years to keep ideas, enthusiasm and the challenge fresh. The choir has always attracted a wide range of ages and cultures. We pride ourselves on our multi-cultural character. Over the years we have had members from Austria, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, The Phillipines, Russia, Spain, Sweden, South Africa and the USA.
