SPARKLING WINES
Every country has it´s sparkling wines which mostly constist of white grapes but sometimes
even red grapes are used (Russia, Germany and Italy). There are several different methods
of producing this wines which lead to very various qualities. Foremost the fermentation in bottles,
which is used for the original Champagne, results in best sparkling wines. In Germany there is
a quality system which differs between the so called Sekt (sparkling wine of better quality) and
Schaumwein (fizzy wine) which is commonly cheap wine fortified with Co2. The spanish sparkling wine is the Cava
which adapts the in bottle fermentation with a high standard quality.The company Freixnet is one of the
best examples for this high standards. The highest qualityrating is Champagne but can only be
adapted to products originated from the Champagne area.
