Horizons is aimed mainly at older Venturers who are coming to the end of their time in the group, but even if you're not thinking of leaving Venturers in the near future, it's worth giving the following some consideration.
There is life after Venturers!
If you are not interested in becoming a leader why don't you give some thought to the following ideas:
- Rovers - the loosely organised training section for those that have left Venturers. Why not join Rovers, or set up a Rovers crew?
- Becoming a Unit Scouter - you are registered and aligned to a Unit but not to a specific section.
- Why are you leaving? Are there any ways around leaving the Venturer group but staying in Scouting?
- If you are moving home, going to college or moving because of a new job, why not contact the local Venturer group in your new area? It's a great way to make friends.
- Join or form a Scouting group in college.
If you are thinking of becoming a leader, going through the following steps will widen your horizons and find you the ideal section to join.
- For each training section in your Unit (a) meet the team of leaders; (b) attend at least one section meeting & (c) organise a section activity.
- Select a section of your choice and volunteer your services. This commitment should cover at least 10 weeks.
Or
- Complete an Induction Stage/Meeting with Unit Leader leading to the Scouting in Action basic training course for a section of your choice.
We hope you have enjoyed Rogha, learned something, made new friends and had fun!
