Link Scouts to Venturers

  1. Both the Scout Leader and the Venturer should meet to prepare the Link Programme
  2. The Venturer Leaders, and or venturer exec, should visit the Scout Troop, and explain what is involved in venturing.
  3. The Venturer leader should also find out if the ‘linker’ has any special needs or conditions which must be taken into account when activities are being planned.
  4. The Linker should be invited along to the next group activity to give them a better understanding of what is involved in Venturering.
  5. For the first few weeks the linker should attend both the scout and Venturer meetings.
  6. The age for Scouts to begin the link is from 14 ½ to 15 ½
  7. The link should take 1 to 2 months.
  8. Agreements should be made regarding Uniform
  9. The sponsor/buddy system should be used.
  10. At the end of the Link the new Venturer should make a presentation to both groups:
    - to Scouts present their impression of Venturers,
    - to Venturers you present your background in scouting, your previous impression of Venturers and your impression of Venturers now.

Following successful completion of the link, the new Venturer is presented with their epilates and Venturer badge at an investiture ceremony.

A person linking from outside scouting would receive their badge and epilates after the leader is assured that the person has an understanding of the scouting ethos and the Venturer group rules.
