About Bernd Reuters

Unfortunately there is not much information available about Bernd Reuters, the artist responsible for the great Volkswagen brochures between 1951 and 1960. At the age of 56, he suddenly died of a heart disorder (1958). 

In his drawings he emphasised the round forms of the cars and draw the passengers slightly to small to give the Volkswagen a larger/ smoother look.

He was also responsible for selecting body and interior colours for the Volkswagens. Bernd Reuters did not just work for Volkswagen but for most German car manufacturers.
