RIGHTS
OF WAY IN DONEGAL
- When you hillwalk in donegal, somebody
owns the ground on which you walk. and you are their invited
or uninvited guest! You might see the fences or you might walk
for miles and see none whatsoever. the main exception is Glenveagh
nation park.
- Most landowners do not mind small groups
of people crossing their land, but please remember that these
people depend on this land for their income!
- Basic rules: ---
· No dogs (maybe with permission, on a lead only)
· If a gate is closed, close it after you
· If the gate is open,do not touch
· Do not stand on any wire fences---you may not see the
damage
· If you have to pass through a farm-yard,please be quiet
· Do not touch machinery or any farm eqipment/crops that
you may see.
· If you meet any farmer in the hill, do not be afraid
to ask directions.these people do not need maps on their land,
unlike us mere walkers. Remember if in doubt ask any farmer
for directiions
