Waterford Road Runners

Portlaw Woods Saturday 12th 10.30am!
Under the watchful eye of Garda Declan Harte, 10 of us met up at the Holy Cross at 10am and ventured out to the woods in Portlaw, on a beautiful, sunny summers morning. Being a first time Portlaw woods runner, as were most of the others, we had no idea what to expect.
One word describes it all....hills, many many hills!! As the run went on and the group broke up into 2s and 3s we were treated to some stunning views, Waterford scenery at its best. The surface need very careful attention to prevent ankle-us twistus. Unfortunately Maura and Kathleen paid a little too much attention and ended up lost, back out on a country road. Stopping at one point for a 'P' break allowed Kathleen the opportunity to sample some of the local raspberries before finally finding their way back to the starting point! Liam Power and Des Colbert will listen to junior Graham next time when he tells them it's right and not left, as they added another half mile to the route! Alan and Wayne, decided they were better to follow the walking breaks method, allowing them home in one piece! Declan Harte spent a lot of the time tracking down the rest of us to point us in the right direction. Siobhan and Adele would have preferred to have gotten lost and returned via the short route no doubt!
Have to say there's no better way to spend a Saturday morning...if you have to get out of bed, that is!
If we ever forget the experience and decide to go again I'll post a notice under the News Section.
