Golden Mile
returns ... hopefully in July!
Initially
pencilled in for June 14th, due to the bad weather hampering progress on
the new track,. we have had to postpone the start of the League until a
definite date is given to us. Apologies for any inconvenience!
With
the new track at the RSC due to be sprayed and lined over the coming
weeks, it's time to get those fast twitch muscle fibres going again.
This year, as with last year, we hope to run races over a variety of
distances and catering for all levels of ability, from the 10minute miler
down to the 2.05min 800m runner.
Each night will see either a mile or 1500m race, with an 800m thrown in
for good measure. The entry fee of 3euro each night will cover you for
both races if you feel up to it!
A mile is 4 full laps of the track, with a few yards extra thrown in. The
800m is a mere 2 laps, but a bit niftier as you can imagine.
The League will run each Thursday for 6 weeks, with entries being taken
from 6.30pm each night. As with other years, each race will be graded, so
that you run with a field of similar ability.
This year, the Road Runners are delighted to welcome on board the help and
services of Waterford AC. The provision of their clock for the series will
lend a professional touch to what are always fun and exciting races.
With the track finally receiving the attention it deserves from those in a
position of 'power', we hope its pristine condition will be preserved this
time and its potential as a fantastic resource to the people of the city
and county of Waterford exploited to the max. It's been a long but
worthwhile wait and we look forward to many exciting track meets being
allocated to the Sunny South East.

See you there!
