Road Runners
Winter League Week 16, Wednesday March 3rd Our
last night! Everybody say....Awwwwwwww.
And what a night it turned out to be. This year's course record was
again broken by Mark Langford (25.44) who was being chased all the time
by our fastest Vegetarian, James Sullivan Sr. At least James has some
carbohydrates at hand now to help refuel for some other showdown!
Joanne Jackman broke the ladies course record, finishing in 31.20. Not
bad for someone who showed her clubmates how to tackle hills on Sunday
last in Ballyduff!
Our fastest O/60 Vet, Tim Sherman made it home first across the line, a
nice way to see out the League! First lady home was Chelly Brennan, who
smashed her previous best with her efforts and proved that the committee
had made the right choice when they decided to give her a fantastic
prize based on the person that most embodied the spirit of the Winter
League, having completed all races after recovering from Pneumonia.
Leaves the rest of us with no excuses eh?
In the 3 Mile section, Paul Carroll had a terrific run to finish in
22.20 with the first lady, Carol Kennedy, hot on his heels!
Check out the other pbs here!
For a list of the overall winners and those presented with prizes at our
prizegiving later in the evening in a packed Alfie Hales, have a look here!
We hope to see as many people as possible continue to come along on a
Wednesday night at 6.30pm for training runs, in preparation for our
Golden Mile Summer Series on the Track, starting May 13th!
