Céad Míle Fáilte is a well known Irish greeting, wishing someone a "hundred thousand welcomes". The phrase is often used at tourist locations around the country to promote the friendliness of the Irish people. The Irish tourist board is in fact named "An Bord Fáilte", the welcoming board! The design of the lettering and zoomorphic letter 'C' is inspired by the Celtic style manuscripts of the early Christian era in Ireland. To simulate the effect of the vibrant hues used in the original manuscripts the gold in the design has been worked entirely in glistening Anchor Marlitt thread. This is a shiny viscose thread and is therefore a little harder to work with than standard thread. Normal thread can be substituted. Completed design measures 9" x 5" (127mm x 229mm). It is stitched on 14ct navy Aida. Chart and colour pictorial reference supplied, P&P included in price. New online shopping site: http://www.jstitch.net/ Use code CLTCEA1 in ordering. |
