Born in Dublin, Eugene has studied singing with Dr Veronica Dunne and
Ms Evelyn Dowling in the D.I.T. College of Music. He has performed in
oratorios such as Haydn’s The Seasons and The Creation,
Bach’s B Minor Mass, Magnificat and Christmas
Oratorio, Mozart’s Requiem, Faure’s Requiem
and of course Handel’s Messiah. Eugene’s operatic
repertoire includes Britten’s Albert Herring and Menotti’s
Amahl and the Night Visitors. Recordings include Lennox Berkeley’s
Stabat Mater, and Patrick Cassidy’s Children of Lir
(televised throughout Europe). Contemporary works include John Buckley’s
Maynooth Te Deum. In a lighter vein, Eugene played the part of
the Sergeant of Police in The Pirates of Penzance with the Rathmines
& Rathgar Musical Society.
Eugene
was formerly a Lay Vicar Choral in St Patrick’s Cathedral, a member
of the RTE Chamber Choir, a member of the Palestrina Choir in the Pro-Cathedral,
An Uaithne (the for runner of the choir Anúna) and has worked extensively
with all the major choral societies in Ireland as a soloist. Eugene is
also proud to be a founder member of the Dublin Chamber Choir, with whom
he performs regularly.
