New Year's Trip to Sligo 2008/2009

	New Year Trip. Another successful New Years in the heart of Co. Sligo under the shadow of Benbulben. What a sight. We all arrived to the Benwisken Centre, got our evening wear on and went for a lovely meal in Langs in Grange. Then after the meal, we went to Barry’s pub where there was music laid on. We took in the New Year in style. Next morning we got ready for our walk which was climbing Benbulben. We met The Sligo Mountaineering Club who did a brilliant job of leading us up this wonderful mountain. We all made it to the top where we had lunch. Then we went down in bitterly cold conditions. Later that evening, we had stayed in and had dinner in the hostel, cooked by some of the members after that, we had a slide presentation of photos taken that day and other photos of hols etc. Day two, we climbed Benwisken, which is close to where we were staying. A bitterly cold day but enjoyable walk. It was that cold, we had Dancing on Ice.
That night, we went out for a meal in another restaurant and enjoyed the rest of the night socialising. A big thanks goes to Grainne with the help of our Leitrim member, Maggie McKiernan who sorted out our meal and entertainment for New Years. An enjoyable time was had by all. We would also recommend the hostel, whilst it is in the middle of nowhere, it is a very warm, clean and homely hostel. We had the hostel to ourselves
