COULD HAVE: - 1:25000 Mourne Country Map (For the Mournes) or Sheet No. 36 OSI 1:50000 (for the Cooley's) - Compass

GOOD IDEAS: - Carry some emergency rations - Have a change of clothes in the car

Meet at Bridge Street Car Park, Newry: 10.00am.   Ott Car Park (J280 279)

Car Pooling: We are appealing to members to pool as many cars as possible as Ott car park is very small to cater for our numbers. The Newry, Dundalk and further south can meet in Newry at 10.00am

Summer BBQ: As I said in the last Newsletter, this event replaces our “away day”. A lot of work has gone into this so we hope it will be well supported. The tickets will be out on this walk. Those going to the Mourne International, we will have some there as well.

 

The Details are as follows:

Date: 9th August 2009. After our usual walk.  Starting eating time: 5.00pm  Finishing up time: 8.00pm to 8.30pm

Location: Converted cottage/marquee on Kinahalla Rd near Spelga (beautiful setting).

Food – Barbecued meats, salmon, etc. Salads/buffet style. Bring own wine – licensed bar available.

There will be Music, dancing and a sing along.

 

Cost: £15.00 - This covers all of the above. Tickets will be available on 28th June from committee members, Frank McAteer, Roger Connolly and Jock McArdle. At the Mourne International, Angela Sloane and  David Sloan will have tickets.

COURSE--Rescue First Aid.   This will be held at the Mary Peters Track, Malone, Belfast. Dates—Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September ‘09.Starting at 9.30  each day, classroom on Sat. am and then entirely outside. Cost £75pp (approx half that of similar courses elsewhere)  UFRC will subsidise -£15 for each person . Mourne Rambler bus service: From 1st July to 30th Aug there will be a bus service around the Mournes, to the different car parks (or near them). The Monaghan Way Walk: Date:  Sun 26th July.  Description: A Fun Day Out - 14.5 miles or 6 mile trek – A scenic hike through the fields and drumlins of Kavannagh Country. Refreshments, Lunch & Evening BBQ
