Palm Sunday Procession - March 2018
For the tenth successive year members of the churches met in the Douglas
Community Park for the Annual Ecumenical Procession for Palm Sunday. Crosses and palm branches were distributed and the event started with a scripture reading, prayers and singing. The procession moved to St. Columba's Church for further readings, a prayer of penitence and singing. Participants then walked to St. Luke's Church for a gospel reading, prayers of intercession and another song. The procession moved on to the Douglas Village Shopping Centre where a stall had been erected to draw attention to the origins and meaning of Holy Week and Easter and to give details of ceremonies in the churches during the week. Finally the group moved to the Douglas Court Shopping Centre where another information stall had been set up. The stalls and displays in both centres were dedicated to God and thanks were expressed to all those taking part, both in the procession and staffing the stalls during the week. |
