Monday 25th  June  - Sunday 1st July  2007

Coaster callers this week included ASHLEY.

Traffic in the bay included the sailing ship LIBERTAD , LE ROISIN and JOPI .

Visitors to the port included the mussel trawlers MYTILLUS and EMERALD GRATIA.

Wicklow RNLI inshore lifeboat RNLB SHERINGHAM SHANTYMEN launched on her first shout on Thursday evening , the crew brought a man drifting in a small dinghy to safety. The volunteer crew have had 4 shouts this month.

Monday 18th  - Sunday 24th June 2007

Coaster callers this week included DERK , CAILIN and TOMKE.

Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat ANNIE BLAKER launched on her 3rd shout this month to assist a yacht with a rope in her propellor

Monday 11th  - Sunday 17th June 2007

Coaster callers included SCOTS ISLE , SCOT TRADER , UNION MERCURY and UNION MARS.

Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat launched on Saturday morning , a yacht with a rope fouled in her propellor was towed to safety and put alongside the East pier.

Visitors to the port included a cruiser.

Traffic in the bay included JOPI working at Kilcoole and HMS KENT out of Dublin after a courtesy visit , the ship came into Wicklow bay and then left at speed , according to her website she was on navigational excercise in the Irish sea and Scottish Isles.

Monday 4th  - Sunday 10th June 2007

Coaster callers included JAN WILLEM.

Visitors in the harbour this week included the mussel trawlers WINGS OF THE MORNING , MYTILLUS , BRANDING ,CORNELIS GERRIT , BONNY & KELLY and EMERALD GRATIA , they were joined by various other mussel boats as they worked along the Wicklow Coast during the week.

Traffic in the bay included EDENVALE and various mussel trawlers ,   the southbound LPG tanker SIGAS LYDIA out of Drogheda for Milford Haven , a Ro/Ro ship KANO II she was southbound out of Dublin after bringing  Irish Army equipment back from a UN Peace keeping deployment in Liberia and Silippaa's JOPI , she is back working on the Dublin - Rosslare railway  protection project near Kilcoole , she passed up and down Wicklow bay this week with rock armour from the Roadstone jetty at Arklow.

Helicopter traffic sighted included a Air Corp EC 135 helicopter northbound over the bay and a Agusta 109 .

Monday 28th May  - Sunday 3rd June 2007

Wicklow harbour

Coaster callers included ASHLEY , DORIS T , SCOT VENTURE

Traffic in the bay included ARKLOW FLAIR  and the sailing ships THALASSA and MATTHEW .

Aviation traffic included the Coastguard S61n helicopter over the bay on friday morning and a Air Corp Pilatus PC - 9 light strike aircraft.

Arklow Port

ARKLOW FLAIR was officially named during a short ceremony on Tuesday at noon , she sailed later that evening to load ore in Dublin. She is one of a new series of F' class ships built in Spain for Arklow Shipping.

Another vessel the SALITA ex INISHARK ex DARELL called to load out cranes.

The replica ship MATTHEW made a overnight stop in the port , she was on passage to Dublin for the Docklands Maritime Festival.

Monday 21st - Sunday 27th May 2007

Coaster callers included SCOT TRADER , THEA MAREIKE , AQUILA and ASHLEY.

Visitor's to the port included ASGARD II and the mussel trawler HIBERNIA.

Traffic in the bay included ARKLOW ROVER , 

Aviation traffic included a Air Corp 'CASA' aircraft over the bay.

The Coastguard held a boat handling course in the harbour and bay over the weekend.

Monday 30th April - Sunday 20th May 2007

Wicklow Port

Coaster callers included SCOT MARINER , AGENOR , SCOT ISLES , MERMAID , UNION MERCURY , FAIRLAND ,SCOT TRADER and UNION MARS.

Wicklow Sailing Club had its lift in day on Saturday 5th May.

Callers to the port included the tug HUSKY and the Ketch LORD RANK and one of the large mussel trawler’s, she tied up at the new pier.

Ships at anchor in the bay included the CIL tender GRANUAILE.

Traffic in the bay included the GRANUAILE, IGOR ILINSKIV, the Dutch navel vessel MERKUUR and submarine HNLMS ZEELEEUW [S803. ARKLOW RESOLVE and the liner ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLT southbound out of Dublin on Saturday evening.

Aviation traffic included the Coastguard s61n helicopter and a S-76.

Wicklow Rowing Club has commenced training in the bay for the 2007 East Coast Regatta's, the Club’s annual Regatta takes place on the August Bank Holiday Monday.  

Monday 23rd - Sunday 29th April 2007

Wicklow Port

Coaster callers this week included JAN WILLEM and SCOT MARINER.

LE EITHNE anchored in the bay overnight on Monday , she departed the next morning.

Traffic in the bay included a tug towing the barge WALCON WIZARD south out of Dun Laoghaire.

 

 

Monday 16th - Sunday 22nd April 2007

Wicklow Port

Coaster callers this week included RAKEL and SCOT RANGER

Aviation traffic included the Coastguard SAR helicopter EI MES and a Air Corp 172 light aircraft

Traffic in the bay included FEHNSTAR and SANDETTIE .

A Trent class lifeboat made a brief visit to the port late in the week.

 The Coastguard held a 2 day boat handling course in the bay over the weekend.

Monday 9th - Sunday 15th April 2007

Wicklow Port

Coaster callers this week included SINA B and RAKEL.

Helicopter traffic over the bay included a Air Corp EC-135 and the Coastguard s61n .

No traffic sightings to report.

Wicklow ALB lifeboat launched on a crew excercise.

Monday 02nd - Sunday 08th April 2007

Wicklow Port

Coaster callers this week included SCOT VENTURE , UNION MERCURY , ANKE ANGELA and UNION MARS.

The tug HUSKY left the port on Monday to return to Arklow.

The Irish Navel vessel LE AOIFE and CIL tender GRANUAILE anchored in the bay during the week.

Traffic sightings included the container ship CITY OF GLASGOW southbound out of Dublin on Saturday morning.

Helicopter traffic included a S-76 southbound.

Coaster callers this week included TOMKE , SCOT EXPLORER and DERK .

HydroServe's tug arrived in Wicklow during the week , on Friday she was working near the East pier.

Wicklow RNLI inshore lifeboat launched on Sunday morning for a crew excercise in the bay.

Coaster callers this week included NINA ex EBERSTEIN , AGENOR , LINDA , UNION MERCURY . UNION MARS , TOMKE and SCOT EXPLORER.

Aviation traffic included the Coastguard helicopter.

Monday 12th - Sunday 18th March 2007

Wicklow Port

Coaster callers this week included SCOT RANGER , DERK , MAGDA , UNION MERCURY , THEA MAREIKE and SCOT ISLES on her first visit.

The tug HUSKY left the port on Monday bound for Scotland.

Traffic in the bay included the Belgian navel dive support vessel STERN southbound after a courtesy visit to Dublin .

Aviation traffic included a Air Corp PC - 9 light strike aircaft and 2 Agusta helicopters.

Monday 04th - Sunday 11th March 2007

Wicklow Port

Coaster callers this week included AQUILA , MONICA and UNION MARS.

The coaster STINA arrived in the port on Tuesday morning , the previous night she lost part of her deck cargo of round timber in bad weather off the Wicklow coast , while she was in port , the rest of her cargo was taken off and will be taken to Cork by lorry, the ship left the harbour on Thursday evening to go to Dublin. A Coastguard helicopter searched along the Coast to detect if the logs would pose a hazard to shipping.

Hydro Serv's tug HUSKY arrived in the port for a short stopover over the weekend , the vessel which is based at Arklow was on passage to Scotland. 

Traffic included the RED DUCHESS northbound on Wednesday , the CIL tender GRANUAILE south on Friday afternoon and a RNLI Tyne class lifeboat northbound, l think she might have stopped overnight in Arklow.

Aviation traffic included a Air Corp 172 and a Coastguard helicopter.

Monday 26th Feburary - Sunday 03rd March 2007

Wicklow Harbour

Coaster callers this week included ASHLEY ( ex HYDRA )

Traffic included SCOT MARINER northbound.

Waterford

The coaster SONATA was tied up at the Frank Cassin warf in the city.

Dunmore East

The RHODUS CEMENT was anchored off the port , she sailed up river later to a berth near New Ross.

Passage East

The tanker CLIPPER BRABOURNE ex CRESCENT BRABOURNE was anchored near the village.

Monday 19th - 25th Sunday Feburary 2007

Wicklow Harbour

Coaster callers this week included STINA , SCOT MARINER , FRISIAN LADY and UNION MERCURY.

The Navel vessel LE AOIFE anchored in the bay on Thursday night , CIL tender GRANUAILE was working near the Codling , she anchored in the bay during the week.

Traffic included ARKLOW SPRAY northbound and the Royal Navy 'Duke' class Frigate HMS ALBANS southbound after a courtesy visit to Dublin.

Congradulations to Wicklow RNLI on the delivery of a new inshore lifeboat , the SHERINGHAM SHANTYMEN will replace the INBHEAR DEAS. The RNLI released the National statistics for 2006 this week  , Wicklow lifeboats launched 20 times and saved 27 lives during a busy year. On average 19 people a week were rescued around our coasts by volunteer crews in 43 stations. Well done to all the volunteer crews around our coast.

Aviation traffic over the bay included the Coastguard rescue helicopter and a Air Corp Cessna 172..

Wicklow Harbour

Coaster callers this week included ANET , SCOT RANGER , CROWN ALIZEE and ANKE ANGELA .

Aviation traffic over the bay included The Coastguard SAR helicopter.

Poole , Dorset

Coaster callers included the Cypriot ANUND.

Aviation traffic included a Army Lynx and a Police Explorer helicopter.

Brittany Ferries Barfleur continued to operate her daily service between Poole and Cherbourg ,  she is named after a picturesque, small fishing village in Normandy, only 25 kilometres from Cherbourg. Launched in 1992, the Barfleur is smaller than the rest of the fleet

Monday 05th - 11th Sunday  Feburary 2007

Wicklow Harbour

Coaster callers this week included CROWN BREEZE , UNION MARS and ANET .

Traffic in the bay included KATHARINA SIEMER , MAR FEEDER , EUCON LEADER and CUMBRIAN FISHER.

The CIL tender GRANUAILE anchored in the bay overnight during the week , she was working on bouy's along the Wicklow coast.The coaster UNION SATURN anchored in the bay on Saturday night , she sailed the following afternoon heading south.

Aviation traffic over the bay included a Agusta 109  ,Coastguard s61n helicopter , Gardai defender and a aircraft conducting a aerial survey along the coast,

Wicklow lifeboat launched on a crew excercise in the bay Sunday morning.

Monday 29th January  - Sunday 04th Feburary 2007

Wicklow harbour

Coaster callers this week included UNION MERCURY , SCOT MARINER , JAN WILLEM , ANET , SANDETTIE and CROWN BREEZE.

Traffic in the bay included COASTAL ISLE , CLIPPER BRABOURNE and GRANUAILE.

Aviation traffic over the bay included a Air Corp CASA aircraft and a R44 helicopter . 

A Metoer was sighted in the sky over the bay on Saturday evening .

Monday 22th - Sunday 28th January 2007

Wicklow harbour

Coaster callers this week included UNION MARS and STINA .

Traffic in the bay included COASTAL WAVE , FS THAIS , BRO GLOBE , NORDSEE , RMS RAHN , TOVE and HERCULES , I believe she is the new Trinity House tender similar to GRANUAILE .

Aviation traffic included the Coastguard s61n helicopter and a Bell 222.

Preliminary work is underway for the new port access road on the Wicklow - Rathnew road , a archeologist dig is currently in progress . The road will run from near Rathnew to Wicklow and will cross the river near Wicklow railway station and link to the Murrough road. This will eliminate trucks coming from the port having to drive through the Main street in Wicklow. The road construction has been delayed over the last 4 years for various reasons .

Greystones

The plan for the proposed new marina and development at the harbour is currently on display in the Council offices in Wicklow , l had a look at it during the week , there has been a lot of media coverage locally regarding this project , groups have voiced opposition to the development .

Monday 15th - Sunday 21st January 2007

Coaster callers this week included SARDIJN , SCOT RANGER and HYDRA .

With bad weather disrupting shipping the containerships RAGNA and BETSY S sheltered in the bay for a few nights , they were joined late on Saturday by a Irish navel vessel the LE EITHNE.

Aviation traffic included the Coastguard s61n helicopter and a Agusta 109E power helicopter .

Traffic sighted included RED DUCHESS , NATASJA THERESA , JOPI , LYSFOSS , SORMOSKIY 3064 and COASTAL WAVE.

Monday 08th - Sunday 14th January 2007

Wicklow harbour

Coaster callers this week included THEA MAREIKE , UNION MARS and SCOT PIONEER .

With Gales all week ships sheltering in the bay included RMS TWISTERN and FAIRWAY . 

Traffic in the bay included the UNION SATURN southbound out of Dublin on Tuesday morning and the containership COASTAL DENIZ northbound for Dublin from Cardiff on Wednesday. 

Aviation traffic included a Air Corp 'CASA' patrol aircraft northbound over the bay during the week and the Coastguard SAR helicopter based at Dublin.

Monday 01st  - Sunday 07th January 2007

Wicklow harbour

First coaster callers of the New Year included SCOT EXPLORER and SCOT VENTURE.

Wicklow lifeboat launched on New Years day for the annual service of Remembrance for deceased members of the RNLI and local sailors , wreaths were launched into the bay after a short religious ceremony. The station celebrates it s 150th Anniversary in Wicklow this year.

GAS PIONEER and MERSEY FISHER left the bay on New Years day early as weather conditions improved.

Traffic in the bay included the POLYDEFKIS ex ARKLOW DAWN southbound on New Years day , the containership COASTAL DENIZ (s), car carrier ASIAN VISION (n), the liner BLACKWATCH went north later in the week .

Dublin bay

CIL tender GRANUAILE was working near the KISH lighthouse on Saturday morning .
