Trainee Diver (C.M.A.S. Diver*)

A Trainee Diver is one who has completed the Diver* Training Module, and is ready to gain further experience and log qualifying dives for the Club Diver Exam.  A diver of a higher grade must always accompany Trainee Divers.

The intention of the course is to provide the beginner with
the technical information and practical skills required for scuba diving.
 

Entry requirements

1.     Be at least 16 years of age.

2.     In the swimming pool complete the following: -

a.       Swim 200 metres free style without stopping

b.      Swim 50 metres backstroke without stopping

c.       With head submerged in the water, hold breath for 30 seconds within 5 minutes of (a) and (b) above.
 

 

Course Content

 This comprises of a series of lectures, pool and open water snorkel and scuba training.  The course is designed so that theoretical knowledge, pool snorkel/scuba activities run concurrently, along with open water snorkel training. Open water scuba activities will commence following all other instruction
and on completion of the required Diving Medical.

 

Lecture Programme

 Included in this series of theoretical lectures is an introduction to the program,
the equipment used in diving, an introduction to the Laws of Physics and Medicine as related to
diving and some techniques used for the prevention an dtreatment of diving accidents.
