Needles: - in pairs, about 50mm long, bluish green in color, usually twisted Bark: - orange in color on young trees, scaly (but not as scaly as red pine) Cones: - 50 to 75 mm long, without spines. They grow out and down from the twig, while the cones of jack pine point up from the twig. Uses: - Scots pine is often planted around homes as an ornamental. It is also planted for reforestation purposes and for Christmas trees.
