The thichness-planer is used generally for finishing wood. Timber coming out of the saw will be rough. The thickness-planer will cut or plane off a layer of wood leaving a smooth finish.

But this machine is even more useful because it can be used to plane a piece of timber to a required thickness quickly and accurately.

It can also be used to rebate a piece of timber.
