This is a photo of a 'restored' XIX from the 'Battle of Britain' Flight. It was a plane, such as this, in this livery that made a forced landing at Spanish Point. One story told about this event was that the local Medical Doctor ministered to the injuries of the pilot. A son of that Doctor was later to become a Medical Doctor also. Later, following a second career in politics he was to become President of the Republic of Ireland.
