The following are the names of the crew that made an 'unplanned' visit to the sea off Doonbeg on the 3rd of December, 1941, and survived.

The aircraft made an emergency landing about eight miles off shore. The Sunderland II was notorious for not being very seaworthy and quickly took on water and sank. These two crewmen were the only ones to survive and swam the eight miles ashore where they were given help and shelter by a local man.
