Armstrong Whitworth Whitley
When the Whitley first flew in 1936 it's modern metal construction was a preview of things to come. Unfortunately its unrefined aerodynamics doomed it to mediocrity. The Whitley was slow, sluggish and poorly equipped to survive against cannon armed fighters. The last Whitley rolled out of the factory in June 1943 1 x .303 machine gun in nose turret
