Without meaning to I
stepped out of bounds.
The fight to claw back in was not my own.
I stood, blinking, the neon glare at my back,
And wondering what lay beyond the beyond.
Oh
I heard your voices allright; the pleas,
The tears, but it didn't matter much out there.
From the pain, and the anguish, there
Grew a stillness, and I caught my breath. The
sky was waiting to exhale a new day.
The lucid line of dawn stretched from this world
to the next; a path, a beach, a place to rest.
I arched my back to dive, but paused.
A voice. Not yours, but my own, one I had thought lost.
It whispered, but whispered clear and in the stillness
it was all there was to hear.
