The Bog Oak pen shown above is a particularly interesting example of these beautiful works. In Irelands bogs, the lack of oxygen in the waterlogged peat prevents the antural process of decay in fallin Oak trees. This ensures their preservation for 4000 years or more.The bog oak used in these pens was found in the peatland of Co.Fermanagh.
