Ballyfermot Community Civic Centre

The Civic Centre was opened on May 25th 2001. This building contains offices for various departments concerning Ballyfermot, meeting rooms and community facilities available for rental.

Almost all areas within the Centre are now fully operational. A wide number of activities are being carried out, and services are being provided at the Centre including various community development and funding organisations, drama and theatre workshops including public theatre and pantomime, various community facilities and leisure activities and several information services.

There is a canteen in the Centre that is presently providing a service to the users of the Centre. It is expected that this service will be developed further in early 2002 and that the canteen will open to the public.

There is a creche in the Centre, which is expected to be operational in mid 2002.

Services available in the Civic Centre:
Citizens Information Centre - The main goal of the information centre is to ensure that individuals have easy access to accurate, comprehensive, integrated and clear information on social services. It assists individuals to identify their needs and access thier entitlements to social services. The information offered is of high quality and delivered by well-trained staff in a confidential manner. Cheshire Community Services - They wotk to support adults with a physical or sensory disability living in the area. The service offers a wide range of supports to disabled people including accessible transport, respite, social activities, day centre, individual home support, advocacy, and a range of information services.Disabled poeple who want or have no ther option but to live in their own community can look to them for advice.
Ballyfermot Community Association (BCA) - The BCA is the oldest community-based organisation in this area, but they would sooner talk of their future than their past. They have moved to their new offices in the Civic Centre and hope that people will financially support their fund-raising activities such as bingo, which is held every Thursday and Saturday evening 8pm-10pm. They hope such activities will support and subsidise the provision of other activities for groups who do not have the ability to provide for themselves. Dublin Corporation - Ballyfermot Regional office is located in the Civic Centre. All issues in relation to Dublin Corporation are dealt with here, allocations, rents, estate management, traffic issues and local projects.
Ballyfermot Theatre Workshop (BTW) - Formed as a FAS funded community employment project in September 1994. Productions by BTW have been very succesful to date and have included radio drama's, street theatre and stage productions including children's pantomimes at affordable prices. Youth Information Centre - The centre is a 'One Stop Shop' for young people seeking information on any subject of interest or concern to them. This ranges from Education & Traning, Rights & Entitlements, C.V. Typing Service, Mock Interviews, and many more.
URBAN - A committee to further the integration of services and community. 12 members work under European Union Commision derectives on the development of the community. Ballyfermot Partnership - The Partnership offers services to all community groups to provide, facilitate, or access funding on behalf of their projects that meet the priorities of the Area Action Plan.
