Naming of the road

Sir Gerard Lally left in 1691 to join the Wild Geese and married a French woman, Marie Anne De Bressac and had a son.

Thomas Artur Lally became field marshall after the Battle of Maastricht in 1748, and later became govener of French possesion in India. Following accusations of treason, he was executed in 1766, but his sentence was annuled and honour was restored in 1778.
