Dear
Friends across the deep Blue Sea!
I have so enjoyed your web pages, and would like to see more
historical articles published to your site, for us "poor"
decendants who never got a chance to know of their ancestors
heritage.
I too am researching Roger Green Davis, and wondered if you perhaps
had a historical folder on he and his family, and what might have
happened to them. I am in possession of his will, and would gladly
share it with you for others who may be looking if you would like.
It has much information in it.
Hoping to hear from you soon!

hello, i
have just visited this great site and have seen many members of my
family including my dad. I have just returned from ballinacree after
burying my nana so as you can imagine i was delighted to see her
photograph on the site (Mary Browne). She was well known in the
community and i would want her memory to live on. I have been
visiting ballinacree since childhood and it holds a special place in
my heart. Keep up the good work, god bless you all.

Family
History |
MESSAGE |
Good
morning, the Historical Society!
I really enjoyed your Web Pages and took the liberty of contacting
you with regard to a bit of history. My wife and I are both of Irish
descent, she from the Anglo Irish and me, via Patrick Lynch from
Balleycorney near Killaloe, who emigrated to South Africa in about
1846. I have progressed quite well with the Lynch family in South
Africa but am now trying to research my wife's family.
This message thus has to do with Roger Green Davis, her great great
grandfather, and the quotation below has reference:
"Drumdihey House is the seat of Roger Green Davis, Esq.; it
consists of a centre and two wings, ornamented with Doric columns,
and with a portico at the eastern end. This handsome mansion, which
was completed in 1833, is near the summit of an eminence, from which
a splendid prospect is obtained of the country extending to Youghal,
with its fine bay, and of Capell Island."
It is from Samuel
Lewis, A Topographical Dictionary of Ireland (London: 1837)
I checked other sites and realise that the Estates, even that of
Aghadoe, were broken up and sold to tenants. I found the 1911 Census
site which makes reference to returns from Aghadoe and Mount Uniacke,
but not from Drumdihey, although there is a Dromdily? Is there
anything of Drumdihey House left and is there any possibility of
research material being available in the town. I
searched for a library address without success.
Research from this far away is tricky and any help you are able to
give would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Des Lynch,Pretoria,
South Africa.

MESSAGE |
Mr.
Myles Stoney,
I just read your article on the Nugent family. I too am a
descendant of Myles the Slasher and Col. Sir John O'Reilly. John's
son Lt. Thomas O'Reilly was the founder of the Baltrasna line of the
O'Reillys. Thomas was the father of the great Spanish General Count
Don Alejandro O'Reilly. Alejandro or Alexander was the brother of my
ancestor James O'Reilly, who was the
primogenitor of the O'Reilly family.
I have more family history I can share with you if you would like.
Thanks, Kevin Penders

Dear
All
I have really enjoyed looking at your site and I am particularly
interested in the Lord Family photo because I think I am
related, on my paternal side.
Over 10 years ago, Mary Lord from Mountnugent (whom I think was
related to the Ballinacree Lords) said our families were related,
she intended visiting my Grandfather to discuss the connection
unfortunately, both died before they had chance to meet up.
I did not think there were any Lords left in the area and would be
more than happy to find out more. My GG Grandfather was John Lord of
Ballyhanna (died 1918), his wife Eliza Anne (died 1925) Lydia Lord,
post mistress of Mountnugent, Sam Lord ran the shop and Willy Lord -
they were aunt and uncles to my Grandfather.
Thank you.
