Since beginning the green project the following have been achieved;

        -We received a battery recycling box from Kildare C.C. which is being filled with used batteries and will be collected from the school when full.

        -We  have  also acquired a compost bin.Each classroom has a green bin into which the children put their fruit remains and other such waste.The contents of these bins are then collected each day and taken to the compost bin.

        -The students drew up the school's green code which is visible in each classroom ,promoted by teachers and followed by all pupils in the school.

        -The major launch date was chosen as the 3rd of April and would run in conjunction with the National Spring Clean campaign. The clean up was undertaken by the students from 1.30 pm to 3pm and by interested adults from 7 to 8 that evening. Students made posters to advertise this event. This day was a great success in launching the green project in the school and the pupils were really amazed at the amount of litter that was gathered in such a short time. A skip was acquired to remove the litter. We now intend to set up a rota system of Litter Wardens with the pupils monitoring the school's performance in accordance with the Green Code.
