General Introduction

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a lay organisation open to everyone, which aims to help its members grow in the love of God and their fellow men and women through direct personal service of people in need.

Programmes

The work of the Society in the Cork Region includes:

  • Weekly Home Visits, Weekly Hospital Visits, Hostels for Men, Holidays and Outings, Job Creation, Youth Clubs, Student Tuition, Home Decoration, Shops (Second-Hand Goods), Home Management Courses, Debt Advice, Sheltered Housing, Needs of Travellers, Visitation to Prisoners, Lunches in Schools, Twinning with Nigeria, Family Resource Centres, A Listening Ear.

Further Information:

The Society is a peoples organisation, the strength of which is based on the common commitment of members to the creation of a just and caring society. Work is carried on by forty-eight Conferences in Cork City and in forty parishes in the county.
