BIOGRAPHY Don Conroy is one of Ireland's most popular artists and storytellers. He Appears regularly on Den 2. He was raised in Donnybrook, in Dublin. He began storytelling to his friends after football matches. He Studied life drawing & sculpture in the National College of Art & Design. He also studied speech & drama in the Royal Irish academy. He then trained as a portrait artist under George Collie. Don began work as a Junior Graphic Designer. In 1982 he held his first exhibition in Dublin. A Late Late Show researcher came to the exhibition and invited Don onto the programme. This led to him being invited onto an afternoon programme with Thelma Mansfield, where he gave a painting demonstration . The producer was so impressed, he was given a show of his own entitled "Paint for Fun" (A live art show). He became a regular contributor on the Den also. Don has written over 40 books for children & young adults.
