Cork is the second city in Ireland with a population of approx 140,000 people. Founded in the 6th Century by St. Finbarr, Cork city centre is built on an island in the River Lee, just upstream of Cork Harbour.
A university city for over 150 years, Cork is justly proud of it’s history, and there are many historically interesting sites open to the public.
These include St Finn Barre’s Cathedral, St Annes Shandon, Cork City Gaol Interpretative Centre, Cork Vision Centre and the City Museum
