18th September |
Approach to high heath.
Mixed weather...some sun, some rain, in waves. |
A nice little set of Galerinas, maybe Galerina clavata.
These mushrooms were about 4 cm. tall at most. In order to get them fully in view through the viewfinder, the only way is to take the photograph with the camera on its side. Then I rotated the image through 90 degrees. |
The Yellow Rattle is still in flower, although most have gone to seed.
|
The Marsh Thistle is a biennial, so it spends its first year as a rosette of spiny leaves. Next year this specimen could be 2m tall. |
This is a fairly young (2 cm. across) Puffball. Looks like Lycoperdon perlatum again. |
The hoverflies are geting scarcer, now, as autumn progresses. This Helophilus pendulus paused briefly on the Devil's-bit scabious. |
