Scoil Mhuire Newsletter
December
2010
Dear
Parents/ Guardians,
As
we approach another uncertain period of weather you will
be delighted to know that this time your children will
have books coming home in their bags at the
weekend and a list of work to do in the event
that we have to resort to a closure again! This “Snow
Pack” or work list is only to be done in the
event of a closure.
Sincere
thanks for your cooperation during our recent “weather
crisis” and for the community spirit shown in clearing
the school grounds and carpark. We are also aware that
many families were marooned and unable to get their
children to school. Those pupils will still be eligible
for the school’s Full Attendance certificate provided
those are the only absences in the year. 238/280 pupils
managed to get to school on the 6th December.
Text-a-Parent is proving very successful in keeping
families up to date. If you change your mobile number
please let us know immediately.
Mrs Kavanagh would like to thank
families for supporting
our Book Fair which despite the snow was a great
success. €4000 book sales meant ,€2300 worth of
books for classroom libraries.
The Christmas
season got underway on Tuesday night with the Carol
Service in Horeswood Church. Ms Lawlor’s and Mr Cadogan’s 3rd
classes put
a lot of work into presenting the Christmas Story for
the carols.
Assuming
we have school as normal next week we will close for the
Christmas holidays on Thursday at 12.30. Infants will go
at 12 noon to avoid congestion. There will not be an
early infant run so those children will travel on the
12.30 buses if they cannot be collected.
We will re-open on Monday 10th January.
On
behalf of all the staff and Board of Management I would
like to extend Christmas greetings to all our families
and wish you a Happy New Year!
Nollaig
faoi shéan is faoi mhaise daoibh go léir!
