Scoil Mhuire Newsletter January
2011
Dear
Parents/ Guardians,
Happy New Year to all our families and to those in the
wider school community who help us throughout the year.
I hope that 2011 will bring optimism and good health to
all.
Swine
flu alert
As
you will be aware from news programmes the Swine flu is
prevalent again. We will do our utmost in school to
ensure good hygiene and follow the same protocols as
last year. If a child has flu symptoms please do not
send them to school.
Junior Infant enrolments
We are now taking applications for enrolment for
2011/12 Junior Infants. The enrolment period is from Jan
10th to 28th February 2011.
Enrolment packs are available from Ann in the office.
Depending on the numbers applying for places the Board
of Management will determine enrolments in early March.
While we advertise throughout the parish and in local
papers we would ask you to let families who do have
children currently in the school but are of a school
going age know of our enrolment period. Junior Infant
enrolments will not be considered after 28th
February 2011.
Notes for non-attendance
Please remember to send in a written note for any
absences. A short statement with the reason for absence
will suffice. These written records are required when
returning information to the National Welfare Board
throughout the year.
Fundraising Night
The proceeds of the next Ballykelly Hall dance on
Friday 14th January will be for the Power
family of Aclare. As you already know Emma Power from 1st
class is currently recovering from brain surgery at
Temple St Hospital in Dublin where her parents Geraldine
and Edward have been keeping a constant vigil. Emma’s
road to recovery is going to be a long and difficult one
and proceeds from the dance will go to support her
needs. Tickets cost €7 and are available through the
school office as well as Centra in Campile or directly
from Fr Kenny or Jim Foley.
Staff meeting
Our staff meeting for this term will be held on
Thursday 20th January at 2pm. Infants can be
collected at half one with buses running at 2pm.
Arrangements for pupil /teacher meetings will be
discussed at the meeting.
Confirmation Meeting
Information was sent out prior to the Christmas
holidays about a meeting this Weds 12th
January for parents of Confirmation candidates. It will
be held in the school at 7.30pm.
Campile Panto
To cheer us up through the dark winter nights Campile
Panto will take to the stage with “Robin Hood Meets
Frankenstein” in Campile Hall starting Jan 27th. We
wish all those taking part a very successful production.
