Scoil Mhuire Newsletter March
2011
Dear
Parents/ Guardians,
Busy
times in Scoil Mhuire through the month of March with
our celebration of all things Irish leading up to St
Patrick’s Day and preparation for sacraments in
2nd , 5th and 6th
. Tonight sees the “Service of Light” for
Confirmation candidates in St. James Church, Horeswood.
On Saturday 2nd April we welcome Bishop Denis
Brennan to the parish for what we hope will be a
memorable day for 5th and 6th
class pupils and their families.
New
classroom
Scoil
Mhuire has been successful in an application for funding
for a new classroom which will commence during the
summer holidays. This is very welcome as we are very
tight for space in the infant area at the moment. The
new classroom will extend the current 2nd/ 3rd
corridor similar to our last extension.
Quiz competitors
The
U-11 and U-13 teams that participated in the area
final of the Credit Union quiz did exceptionally well.
The U-13 team of Aoife Molloy, Jack Ronan, Aaron Mythen
and James Nolan came
a creditable 3rd while the U-11 team
of Martin Kinsella, Orla Nolan, Ciara Molloy and Jan
Becker came 1st
in their category. The U-11 team now go to the
National Finals in the RDS on Sunday April 3rd
. We wish them the best of luck and a great day out.
Mini-7’s
The
girl’s mini-7’s got through to Round two of this
year’s competition where they won one game and lost
the second. The boy’s hurling team compete in Round 2
this afternoon.
Rackard
League
Ms
O’ Connor and Ms O’ Hanlon have undertaken to field
a Rackard League camogie team and have begun lunchtime
practice. The competition starts in early April.
Community
Games Art winners
Quite a contingent represented Horeswood in the recent
county Art Final across all age groups. There were two
winners - Daniel
Smith came 3rd in the U-8 section and Orla
Nolan was 3rd in the U-12 category. Well done
to both. Lots of wonderful art work was sent into this
year’s Texaco Art competition also.
