Stargazing with the IAS in Wicklow National ParkSaturday 4th April 2009From 8.00pm till 10.00pm,at the Glendalough Upper Car Park, Co Wicklow. No Charge. Sky watchers of the Irish Astronomical Society invite you to join them at the locations and times mentioned above. A number of quality telescopes will be available for viewing the wonders of the heavens (provided that the skies are reasonably clear). With the Moon at first quarter, the Craters of the Moon will be well on view. By later in the evening (when it gets dark), the planet Saturn will be star of the show. Its rings are now a straight line as the planet is presented nearly edge-on! Even if it is not clear, Dublin City Council Libraries will have their educational bus along at Sandymount, which will be a treat for children. Wrap up well as it gets cold on early April Evenings.

Sidewalk Astronomy was pioneered in San Francisco by John Dobson and the San Francisco Sidewalk Astronomers in the 1970s. The Dublin Sidewalk Astronomers was an early pioneer on this side of the Atlantic.
